Arco di Trento

It is the castle, standing atop a rocky hill in the center of the Sarca Valley, which marks the way to the historic center of Arco. Inhabited since pre-historic times, Arco owes its fame to its clear, limpid atmosphere which, together with the mildness of the climate, earned it the designation natural clinic during the era of the Austrian Kurort (1872 - 1925). The Austrian domination left its mark on Arco, on the parks and gardens, on the elegant liberty villas and the beautiful renaissance buildings. In the Arboretum of Arco, a strip of the ancient park desired by the Archduke Albert of Hapsburg, you can admire plants from four different continents and follow a trail through the public gardens and olive groves to the medieval castle which belonged to the Counts of Arco.
