St. Peter

San Pietro is the central locality of the Val di Funes/Funes Valley. It is divided into to parts: a lower one, which is located around the chapel of S. Michael at the valley bottom, and an upper part on the sunny slope with the parish church at its very core.

Here you can find also the municipal hall, the post office and the tourist office. The community hall, the library and suitable rooms for the different cultural associations and the traditional Funes band, as well as a doctor's surgery, are accommodated inside the complex on the hill "Schleierbühel".

Val di Funes is also well know for the legendary mountaineer Reinhold Messner, who spent his childhood in San Pietro and where he discovered his passion for the mountains.

San Pietro is also a perfect starting point for easy hikes.
