Sankt Andreasberg
is the highest mountain town in the Harz (600–900 m) and, with its steep streets and colourful wooden houses, has retained much of its original charm.
The health resort offers outpatient spa treatments and natural healing therapies. But active holidaymakers will also find plenty to enjoy in St. Andreasberg: 220 km of hiking trails, guided hikes including into the national park, a bowling alley, a summer toboggan run, as well as 7 ski lifts, 2 double chairlifts, 40 km of groomed cross-country trails and a floodlit tobogganing slope await you.
At the silver mine "Grube Samson", you can visit the world’s only functioning mine lift. You can also explore one of the oldest tunnels in St. Andreasberg, the "Catharina Neufang" mine.
There are curiosities to discover in the world’s only Canary Bird Museum. The multimedia show at the National Park Centre and the “Urwald-Vision” in the spa gardens offer a symbiosis of culture and nature.
