Here in Admont, nestled in the heart of the Ennstal Alps, mountain lovers are in their element. Over there are the Haller Mauern, with views of the Buchstein and the Hochtor Group, and then there’s the Reichenstein Group too. Admont is not only a stop on the ‘From Glacier to Wine’ hiking route, but also a popular starting point for adventures in the Gesäuse National Park, if only because you can begin a multi-day hut-to-hut hike here and sample the local cuisine in the numerous inns. The phrase ‘The Gateway to the Gesäuse National Park’ therefore truly paints the right picture in your mind.
The district of Johnsbach is a cult mountaineering village, surrounded by the National Park, home to the Odelstein Cave and blessed with excellent inns. In summer, Hall also delights visitors with a salt nature trail along the Eßling, the Mühlauer Waterfall and Weng with its many walking, hiking and cycling opportunities. Our cycling tip: the extremely popular Enns Cycle Route, which also passes through the Gesäuse.
