Beskrivelse av

Section no. 4 starts at Colle (1238 m asl), a hamlet of Oggebbio, and stretches for 13 km over a wide dirt road that then turns into a comfortable grassy path without particular difficulties. A convenient parking lot allows you to leave your car and start the first climb towards Monte Spalavera, and the view in front of you is truly spectacular: from the lakes to the peaks of the Val Grande National Park up to the Monte Rosa range and the Swiss Alps. Near the summit cross, a panel shows the profile of the Alps with the names of their peaks, and here you can admire well-preserved trenches. Along the route you can see the construction of a small hospital and reach Passo Folungo (1369 m asl), where the Cadorna Road begins to climb with beautiful hairpin bends up to Rifugio Pian Vadà: from here you have a wonderful view over Lake Maggiore, the Intrasca Valley, the peaks of the Val Grande National Park and those of Ossola.

Beskrivelse av

The Cadorna Line is the defensive system built during the First World War between Piedmont and Switzerland for fear of an Austro-German invasion.
