The Viennese Heuriger

It is as famous as the Ferris wheel, Schönbrunn Palace, the choirboys or the Lipizzaners. The real Wiener Heuriger.

Numerous songs were dedicated to him, for many movies he served as a scenery. But above all, he offers the Viennese and their guests entertainment, fine wines from Vienna and the appropriate culinary accompaniment in the proverbial cosy atmosphere. A place to feel at home, where everyone is welcome. The real Viennese Heurigen, where only Viennese wine is served, can be recognized by the pine tree bush and a board with the word "Ausg'steckt", which also indicates when the restaurant is open.

However, the word "Heuriger" does not only refer to the restaurant itself, but also to the wine from the current vintage, which traditionally may be called "Heuriger" until 11 November (Martini). In addition to the palatable, open draught wine, the Wiener Heurigen also offer their guests fine boutique wines, which reflect the richness of varieties and the special Viennese climate, and a corresponding glass and table culture. And sometimes, with a bit of luck, you can even hear "living music" in the cosy gardens or in the homely parlours...
