The Schiederweiher is a lake in the Polsterlucke in Hinterstoder and is called the pearl of the Stodertal!

Its idyllic location and the breathtaking view of the Spitzmauer (2,446 m) and the Großer Priel (2,515 m) make the Schiederweiher one of the most famous excursion destinations from Hinterstoder.

You can explore the area around the Schiederweiher on several easy hiking trails. Even in winter, hiking on groomed trails through the snow-covered Schiederweiher area is a unique natural experience. A cultural highlight takes place every three years in mid-August, the Bläserklangwolke directly on the lake.

The Schiederweiher was built from 1897 to 1902 by k. & k. Court architect Johann Schieder built by Friedrich Eckbrecht Graf von Dürkheim-Montmartin. In order to stop the increasing silting up and algae growth, the community of Hinterstoder carried out an extensive renovation project with the support of the public sector and the owner, Carl Herzog von Württemberg, in the winter months of 2004/05.

The weir system of the Schiederweiher at the inlet including the inlet structure were renewed. Bank protections were erected along the dam and the weir at the outlet was restored according to the original plans. Safety measures were taken along the well-known Polsterlucken hiking trail and a viewing platform was designed.

In the Schiederweiher, the fish stock is now being rebuilt with local, site-specific young fish - brown trout from the region (primordial trout) as well as reinanque and lake char. The ecological diversity is preserved with small fish (minnows) and crayfish (noble crayfish, stone crayfish).
